USED TO ( /juːstuː/
) se utiliza para hablar de
hábitos o sucesos del pasado que ya no ocurren en este
momento. Por ejemplo:
My brother
used to smoke
Mi hermano antes
fumaba
Cuando queramos
decir que
algo no ocurría con anterioridad ("Mi hermano no fumaba
antes") podemos hacerlo de dos formas:
-La primera es
formal y bastante rara:
My
brother used not to smoke
-La segunda es
informal y más utilizada:
My brother
didn't use to smoke
Esta es la
estructura que vamos a utilizar. Así, ante el estímulo:
Did my brother
use to smoke?
(¿Fumaba antes mi
hermano?)
contestaremos:
My brother
didn't use to smoke
(Mi hermano
no fumaba antes)
