interpretaciones del origen de este idiom, aunque
siempre referidas a la tardanza de las vacas en regresar
al establo para ser ordeñadas, ya sea porque caminan a
un ritmo muy lento o bien porque en Escocia se dejaban
pastando en las Tierras Altas hasta el otoño, cuando
regresaban a los establos.
También se podría
referir al hecho de que si una vaca escapa de una
propiedad, nunca vuelve por sí sola al establo, a
diferencia de los caballos que sí que lo hacen.
